Omega-sub-b

Combing through almost 100 trillion collision events produced by the Tevatron particle collider at Fermilab, physicists of the DZero experiment found 18 incidents in which the particles emerging from a proton-antiproton collision revealed the distinctive signature of a new particle made of three quarks, the Omega-sub-b. Once produced, the Omega-sub-b travels about a millimeter before it disintegrates into lighter particles. Its decay, mediated by the weak force, occurs in about a trillionth of a second.

Pollution: Aerosols

Learn.

The increase in atmospheric concentrations of man-made aerosols—tiny particles suspended in the air—from such sources as transportation, industry, agriculture, and urban land use not only poses serious problems to human health, but also has an effect on weather and climate. Recent studies suggest that increased aerosol loading may have changed the energy balance in the atmosphere and at the Earth's surface, and altered the global water cycle in ways that make the climate system more prone to precipitation extremes. It appears that aerosol effects on clouds can induce large changes in precipitation patterns, which in turn may change not only regional water resources, but also may change the regional and global circulation systems that constitute the Earth's climate.

Unification Theories

According to the big bang theory, the universe expanded rapidly in its first microseconds. A single force existed at the beginning of the universe, and as the universe expanded and cooled, this force separated into those we know today: gravity, electromagnetism, the strong nuclear force, and the weak nuclear force. A theory called the electroweak theory now provides a unified explanation of electromagnetism and the weak nuclear force theory. Physicists are now searching for a grand unification theory (GUT) to also incorporate the strong nuclear force. String theory seeks to incorporate the force of gravity with the other three forces, providing a theory of everything (TOE).

Mind : Depression

Depression is one of the most prevalent disorders in the Western world, and, according to the World Health Organization, it will even be the No. 1 disorder in 2020. Ten to 15 per cent of the population − from all levels of society − experience depression during their lifetime; and about 5% has to contend with manic depression. Despite the high socio-economic costs and mortality rate, the causes of these psychiatric disorders are not yet known. However, scientists are in agreement that the origin of depression can be attributed to a combination of hereditary and environmental factors such as stress.

Mutations

The four letter code that constitutes the DNA of all living things changes over time; for example individual or several letters can be copied incorrectly [substitution], lost [deletion] or gained [insertion]. Such changes can lead to functional and structural changes in genes and proteins and ultimately to the formation of new species. Reconstructing the history of these mutation events reveals the course of evolution.

Alternative Energy: Algae

Penetrate.

Algae are tiny biological factories that use photosynthesis to transform carbon dioxide and sunlight into energy so efficiently that they can double their weight several times a day. As part of the photosynthesis process algae produce oil and can generate 15 times more oil per acre than other plants used for biofuels, such as corn and switchgrass. Algae can grow in salt water, freshwater or even contaminated water, at sea or in ponds, and on land not suitable for food production. On top of those advantages, algae — at least in theory — should grow even better when fed extra carbon dioxide (the main greenhouse gas) and organic material like sewage. If so, algae could produce biofuel while cleaning up other problems.

Atha Yodanushasanam

Now begins the teaching of Yoda.

All that is needed is that for a single moment there be no thought, no desire, no hope. In that single moment, the lightning.

Enlightenment is a process of unlearning. Utter ignorance it is. But very luminous is that ignorance and very dull is your knowledge.

All is as it should be, perfect is everything, the most perfect is this world, this moment lacks nothing —the experience of this is what enlightenment is.

God cannot be seen, God is the seer in you, God is the one who is seeing through you — see God how can you?

God has never been missed. Maybe you have forgotten, that's all. Maybe you have got lost in many, many dreams, that's all — but you are there. Your very being God is.

Wisdom happens — not through your effort but through your effortless acceptance.

Nothing special in enlightenment there is, it is just an acceptance of all that is, just an utter relaxation into reality.

When one comes home, one understands that one has always been here.

Just unnecessary is to be unenlightened; just natural is to be enlightened. It is not an attainment, it is not an achievement.

You have only to be awakened to what you already have. You have to be awakened to that.

11.

You be whatsoever you are, wheresoever you are. Relax there. Your meditation let that be. And arise wisdom will.

12.

Out of acceptance wisdom comes. Not an acquirement wisdom is, not knowledge wisdom is, not information. Wisdom is this quality of tremendous acceptance.

Close your eyes, meditate.

May the force be with you.

A Buddha has no dreaming, no planning, no worrying, no thinking. He simply exists. He exists like a rock, like a tree, like a river — with just one difference, a very tremendous difference. The difference is that he exists without mind but full of awareness.
