The Diamond of Your Being

Can an android ever be made which can think, dream and aspire? And can a human being be "unmade" so that he can stop thinking, dreaming and desiring — and see the truth for what it is? In both cases, there is beauty, poetry and transcendence. One marks the artificial birth of true mind, while the other leads to the true death of natural mind. We present sutras of Yoda — the killer poet — along with many science tidbits, which can possibly evoke a sense of wonder even in an android.

Recent experiments

with rhesus macaques

suggest that monkeys

do high-speed addition

in much the same way

as people do.

Researchers tested

college students' ability

to add numbers

as quickly as possible

without counting.

The researchers compared

the students' performance

with that of rhesus macaques

taking the same test.

Both the monkeys

and the students

typically answered

in about a second.

And their test scores

weren't all that different.

Ego is not freedom.

Ego is your worst enemy:

it is not your strength,

it is just a mock-up;

it is not you,

not even your photograph,

not even your shadow.

Normally, ice builds in

Arctic waters

around the North Pole

each winter

and shrinks

during the summer.

But for many years,

the amount of ice left

by the end of summer

has been declining.

As more ice melts each summer,

it takes longer for seawater

to freeze each winter.

Some scientists fear

that the Arctic is stuck

in a warming trend

from which it may

never recover.

I want you to know

who is in the

innermost being

of your interiority.

Only that

can bring freedom

to you.

For decades,

scientists have debated

how the brains of

young children

figure out how to communicate

using language.

With help from new technologies

and research strategies,

scientists are now finding

that babies begin life

with the ability to

learn any language.

By interacting with other people

and using their superb

listening and watching skills,

they quickly master

the specific languages

they hear most often.

What you need is a clarity

which mind is preventing.

A man can only be a man

if he has attained

to the state of no-mind.

Hypnosis can seem like magic.

When in this dreamlike state,

people are easily convinced

to do things

they wouldn't normally do.

Now, scientists are using

amazing and mysterious ability

to focus on certain memories

(such as the answer

God is known

breathing within your heart.

Ball lightning is

one of the strangest objects

you might never see.

The rare,

basketball-sized fireballs

occasionally form in nature

after lightning strikes soil.

They can float or bounce

and last for several minutes

before disappearing.

In recent years,

scientists have learned

something about the science

behind ball lightning.

But questions remain.

diamond of your being,

Discover the diamond

within you.

Nobody can give it to you,

you already have it;

only, you have to be

shaken awake.

Scientists have found a way

to turn dead rat hearts

into living ones.

It's a medical first,

and the technique

may eventually allow doctors

to make new hearts

from patients' own cells.

This should largely avoid

the risk that

the patient's body will reject

the new heart,

which often happens today.

Anything rational

your mind absorbs,

and goes on sleeping:

something absurd

which the mind cannot

make any sense of

is absolutely needed

to cut the mind

in a single blow.

The whole of Western history is ego-centered. They have known nothing about enlightenment. And without enlightenment there is no freedom, no truth, no fearlessness, no dance and no celebration of being.
